Kendall
Whittier, Inc
was first established by 4 neighborhood churches in 1968
as a response to the deterioration of the neighborhood.
All 4 of these churches are still active components.
Kendall
Whittier, Inc
component members are College Hill Presbyterian, Grace Lutheran,
St. Francis Xavier Catholic, The University of Tulsa and
University United Methodist. Neighborhood residents and
others with an interest in the well being of the Kendall
Whittier neighborhood are also actively involved.
The mission of Kendall Whittier, Inc. is to work together
to improve the quality of life for the individuals of our
neighborhood.
Kendall
Whittier, Inc
is a Partner in Education with Kendall-Whittier Elementary
School, Cleveland Middle School and Rogers High School.
We provide help with staff
appreciation events, staff development, social service resources,
supplies, volunteers, school projects and events and community
advocacy.
Kendall
Whittier, Inc
also operates an Emergency Food Pantry and an after-school
Youth Mentoring Program.
Volunteers gave over 4000 hours to
Kendall
Whittier, Inc
in 2008.
Kendall
Whittier, Inc
is an active participant in community events like Lights
On at Whittier Square and the Neighborhood Fourth of July
Parade.
Kendall
Whittier, Inc
has been and continues to be involved in many advocacy efforts
for the Kendall-Whittier neighborhood.
Kendall Whittier, Inc. would not be able to help its neighbors
without the generous support of our Components Churches
and Organization, and the support of our generous donors.
